Both programs utilize a positive behavior reinforcement system to recognize youth who demonstrate positive behaviors and skills.

Each program operates in a trauma-focused environment, providing medical, mental health, and substance abuse treatment. Treatment consists of evidence-based programming where youth receive mental health and substance abuse clinical services. Psychiatric services, including psychiatric evaluation, medication monitoring, treatment planning, and emergency consultation 24 hours a day, seven days a week, are provided by a Board Certified Psychiatrist.

The average length of stay is between eighteen and thirty-six months at The Cypress Creek Juvenile Offender Correctional Center and the average length of stay for Cypress Creek Treatment Center is between nine and twelve months. A youth’s length of stay varies based upon his individual treatment needs and his individual progress.

Cypress Creek Juvenile Offender Correctional Center/Cypress Creek Treatment Center offers English, Math, Science, Social Studies, and Reading. Career and technical opportunities are available to eligible youth. Education services are provided through a contract between the program and the Citrus County School District.

Cypress Creek (JOCC and TC) has been audited by a US-DOJ Certified PREA Auditor and deemed compliant with the Prison Rape Elimination Act (PREA).

The program utilizes gender-specific, cognitive-behavioral treatment and evidence-based programs.
The program operates under the “Girls 4 Success” model, which identifies signature strengths such as volunteer and family-focused services, along with therapeutic support, health and wellness, academic, and life skills services. The program also provides Mental Health Overlay Services (MHOS), individual, family, and group treatment that includes anger management, coping skills, depression management, ego development, self-concept, family issues, impulse control, life and social skills, female issues, substance abuse and addictions, trauma, and domestic violence.

The average length of stay is between nine months and twelve months for high-risk youth and 18 months to 36 months for maximum-risk youth. The anticipated, average length of stay depends on the youth’s pace of success in completing her individualized treatment plan and goals. Hillsborough Girls Academy is accredited through the Commission on Accreditation of Rehabilitation Facilities (CARF) International.

The Hillsborough Girls Academy offers English, Math, Science, Social Studies, Reading and a career education elective course. Education services are provided by the Hillsborough County School District.

Jacksonville Youth Academy is a 24 bed non-secure residential program for males ages 14-18 years old.
The program Is a Trauma-Focused restraint free environment that promotes normalcy for the youth in our care. The program provides comprehensive medical, mental health and substance abuse therapies in the form of individual, family, and group therapy by qualified mental health and substance abuse professionals.

In addition, the program offers “Thinking for Change,” an evidence-based curriculum that addresses cognitive “thinking errors” that drive antisocial behavior. The program also provides the “LifeSkills Training” curriculum, which addresses violence prevention, “Impact of Crime,” and restorative justice. These curricula help youth understand the impact of criminal activities have on individuals, families, and communities. These evidence-based services mitigate the risk for the youth to reoffend. Youth also participate in gender-specific groups with an emphasis on pro-social character building.

The average length of stay is from three months to nine months depending on the youth’s pace of success in completing his individualized treatment plan and goals.

Jacksonville Youth Academy also prepares youth with employability skills to prepare them to enter into today’s workforce. In addition to an educational program that meets all course requirements for a standard high school diploma, career education includes Microsoft Certification, Business Education, Florida Ready to Work, Career Planning through Choices, SafeServe Certification, Occupational Safety and Health Administration Certification, and Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation/First Aid Certification. Education and vocational services are provided through the Duval County School District.

The program provides intensive mental health treatment services to youth with a DSM-5 diagnosis who demonstrate serious to severe symptoms of mental disorder and impairment in social, emotional, and/or adaptive functioning.
The program also provides services for up to 16 of the 48 youth with borderline mental retardation and development disabilities. Lake Academy provides services by trained staff and a licensed Psychologist. Intensive medical overlay services are also available for qualified youth.

The anticipated length of stay is between nine months and twelve months, depending on the youth’s pace of success in completing her individualized treatment plan and goals. Lake Academy is accredited through the Commission on Accreditation of Rehabilitation Facilities (CARF) International.

Les Peters Academy provides residents with mental health overlay services. Individual, family, and group therapy is provided to address symptomology to improve overall level of functioning.
The treatment focuses on areas of healthy relationships, anger management, and cognitive, emotional, and social skill development. In addition to general academy instruction, vocational programming is also offered at the facility. Vocational programs include an auto body course and wood shop classes, and certification programs include Food Handler Certification and CPR/First Aid Certification

The anticipated length of stay is between six and nine months, depending on the youth’s pace of success in completing his individualized treatment plan and goals.

Les Peters Academy offers English, Math, Science, Social Studies, and one elective course. The elective course is typically used to provide additional reading assistance to needy students or vocational training. The Hillsborough County Public School System provides general academic instruction for the youth at Les Peters Academy.

Miami Youth Academy is a non-secured juvenile residential program for males, serving youth between the ages of 14 - 18 years old.
The program is highly structured, utilizing evidence-based practices to provide care, treatment and supervision that mitigate the risk for the youth to reoffend. Youth receive daily psychotherapeutic services focusing on substance abuse treatment, including individual, family and group counseling, cognitive skills training, and relapse prevention training by qualified mental health and substance abuse professionals.

The anticipated length of stay is between six to nine months, depending on the youth’s pace of success in completing his individualized treatment plan and goals.

The program offers an education program that includes all course requirements for a standard high school diploma. The program works closely with the Florida Department of Business & Professional Regulation in offering career explorations in SafeStaff Employee Food Handler Training. Youth are also able to receive education and training through the Florida Ready to Work Credential.

Miami Youth Academy offers an education program that includes all course requirements for a standard high school diploma. The Miami-Dade County Public Schools provides the program’s academic and career education instruction on-site.

OYA is a non-secured residential program that provides services to males ages 14-18 years old. Both Mental Health Overlay Services (MHOS) and Substance Abuse Overlay Services (SAOS) are provided as identified based on individual youth needs.
Both aspects of these programs offer evidence-based treatment practices that incorporate the principles of restorative justice and behavioral health. The goal is to provide an environment that offers vast opportunities for personal growth and fosters feelings of safety and well-being.

Youth participate in daily psychotherapeutic services, seven days per week, including group, family, and individual therapy provided by qualified mental health and substance abuse professionals.

These evidence-based treatment services address areas such as: cognitive skills development, educational, and recreation services.

The program is committed to the balanced approach of restorative justice that emphasizes accountability, competency development, and public safety.

Youth at Polk Halfway House receive clinical and case management services, individual, family, and group therapy. Treatment provided addresses behavior management, human growth and development, life skills, physical skills, and specialized community re-entry preparedness. Eligible youth attend community outings to complete community service, participate in community restorative justice activities and practice skills acquired in treatment to promote youth success upon transitioning back to the community.

The anticipated average length of stay at Polk Halfway House is between six to nine months, depending on the youth’s pace of success in completing his individualized treatment plan and goals. Clothing and uniforms are provided by the program.

The Polk Halfway House offers English, Math, Science, Social Studies, Reading and one elective course. Education services are provided by the Polk County School District.

Tampa Residential Facility serves 60 high-risk males who are in need of comprehensive mental health services and substance abuse services.

Tampa Residential Facility (TRF) provides both Substance Abuse Treatment Services as well as Comprehensive Mental Health Treatment Services. Comprehensive Mental Health Treatment services include a continuum of interventions consisting of intensive mental health services for youth with a range of mental health disorders, comorbidities and/or co-occurring substance abuse treatment needs. Clinical services are offered seven days a week and include individual Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), family, and group therapy. Additionally, this program provides Behavior Analysis services for youth diagnosed with Autism, intellectual disabilities or youth who engage in high intensity problem behaviors.

Vocational programming is offered and includes pre-vocational services that identify the youths’ interests, aptitudes and skills as well as an agricultural course and a business and technology course which allows the youth to earn Microsoft certifications. The Hillsborough County Public School System provides general academic instruction for the youth at the program and provides opportunities for eligible youth to prepare and sit for their General Education Diplomas (GED). Youth residing at TRF are provided with opportunities to participate in voluntary extra curricular activities and complementary therapies including Youth Yoga, Drum Group and Canine Therapy.

The average length of stay at TRF is nine to twelve months depending on the youth’s progress in treatment. TRF is a treatment based program therefore, length of stay is determined by the individual youth’s progress in treatment.
